At my heaviest I was 240lbs, my lightest was 145lbs. I’m currently 165lbs.
It took about 2 to 3 years in total. I’ve gained some back but am pretty happy at my current weight (just need more toning).
I stopped eating so much fast food, increased my activity (hiking, yoga, rock climbing) and generally worked off portion control, and better food choices (I went from drinking almost 2 liters a day of soda with a steady diet of pizza, hot pockets, and all processed foods— to veggies, fruit, lean meats, whole grains, juicing)
The first 30lbs of loss I feel were attributed to stopping a few medications as well. But really, the small dietary changes and moderate exercise really made the impact.
