Hey hi how are ya?! I always get a ton of new followers whenever my before/after pictures start circulating so I thought I’d reintroduce myself! 😛

My name is Alyssa but I go by Aly. I’m 21 years old and I graduated in December with my BAE in Elementary Education. I want to teach 4th or 5th grade, I student taught fifth graders and loved every minute of it. I’m currently trying to relocate so in the meantime I’m working a desk job in a tax office and as a waitress to save some money before I move. I love art, books, my dogs, musicals, and being outside. This is starting to sound like a bad online dating profile so let’s move on to what you all came for – my weight loss story and stats.

I started losing weight last January. I started at around 165 pounds which, at my height of 5’3″, put me about 5 pounds away from being considered medically obese. I wasn’t happy with myself or the way I looked, so I started making changes.

My weight loss can be attributed entirely to CICO, or Calories In, Calories Out. Basically, I count calories using a food scale and the My Fitness Pal app. I use/ a certain amount of calories per day by moving, performing normal every day tasks, exercising, etc. If I eat less calories than I use on a daily basis, I lose weight. I do exercise moderately, but it’s all about diet when it comes to actual weight loss! The good news is my diet is not restrictive at all. I eat whatever I want as long as it fits into my calorie budget. I like carbs and chocolate and beer and I get to have all of those things – maybe just not all at the same time!

I started my ~weight loss journey~ at 165. I’m currently around 127-130. I don’t have an exact number because I recently started strength training and water retention is a FUN THING THAT HAPPENS! Ideally, I would like to be around 115, just to be able to say that I lost 50 pounds, but I’m more concerned with how I look and feel than I am with a number on the scale.

Living a healthier, well-balanced lifestyle has done WONDERS for me. I have grown so much as a person in the last year – in every way but physically, haha! I am not a philosopher so I won’t wax poetic here but changing my eating habits and treating my body well has been the best decision I’ve ever made.
