Height: 1.57. Weight in first picture:70 kg. Weight in second picture:57 kg.
The difference between pictures is 4-5 years. In the first picture I was struggling with binge eating, while in in the second picture I have been recovered for about 3 years.
After many failed attempts to give up binge eating, what helped me get over it was falling in love and having my first boyfriend who loved me and accepted me as I was. After about 4-5 months in the relationship, the desire to eat compulsively was no longer there. I now have a healthy relationship with food and no longer fear I will overeat or lose control.
Also, starting to run definitely helped in losing weight, even though I wasn’t consistent. I have been running for about 2 years now, with some breaks of 2-3 months.
On the diet side, I tried to stick to whole grains, vegetables, fruits and dairy, mostly trying to avoid refined sugars, white bread, crackers, chips. Drinking more water definitely helped me.
Other than that, I have noticed that after you start eating clean and drinking more water, your body gets used to this and it’s not craving the unhealthy stuff anymore. My cravings for sugar are not so strong as they used to and I cannot eat the same large portions as before.
I guess it’s all in creating some habits and sticking to them.
I couldn’t be happier about recovering from my eating disorder because it was a very dark and hopeless time in my life and I couldn’t see a way out of it but what I learned is that we are worth so much more than our weight. Don’t let this stop you or define you as a person.
